How orders are filled
- The data is real, the orders are not. The order book, trades and prices come live from OKX, but your orders do not go to the exchange and do not affect the market.
- A market order goes through the real levels of the order book, so a larger quantity gets a worse average price.
- A limit is only filled once the real price moves through it. Merely touching it is not enough, because on an exchange there may be a queue of other orders ahead of yours. The quantity is not split: it is filled in full.
- A stop-loss is triggered when the price reaches the trigger and sells at market. In a sharp drop, the exit can be below the trigger.
- A stop-limit turns into a limit when triggered, so in a sharp drop it may not be filled.
- OCO combines a limit above and a stop below the price: when one is filled, the other is cancelled.
- Fees: 0.08% when an order waits in the book and 0.10% when it is filled immediately. The check runs constantly and also catches real moves through one-minute candles, so real execution may differ.
- Buying without a stop lowers discipline, and a stop that risks more than 2% of the account lowers it even more. A result in the demo does not guarantee a result on the real market.
